Knowledge is reassurance.

Before screening, after diagnosis, and during follow-up: plain-language information about pancreatic cancer, PDAC, and AI-assisted medical imaging. This content is not medical advice.

01Why pancreatic cancer is “silent” early on

Before Screening

The pancreas sits deep in the abdomen, and pancreatic cancer may cause few or nonspecific symptoms early. The most common type is pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Seek medical advice for jaundice, unexplained weight loss, or persistent back pain.

02Who is at higher risk? How often to check?

Before Screening

Age, family history, smoking history, diabetes, and recurrent pancreatitis can affect risk. Your doctor can recommend whether abdominal imaging (CT or MRI) is appropriate and how often it should be performed.

03Preparing for an abdominal CT

Before Screening

You may be asked to fast for 4–6 hours and pause certain medications, such as metformin, as instructed by your care team. The scan typically takes 10–15 minutes; you may need to hold your breath briefly. Tell your care team about allergies or kidney problems.

04What role does AI play in CT reading?

After Diagnosis

AI can provide an additional review: it analyzes images and flags suspicious findings, while the radiologist reviews and interprets them. AI does not make a diagnosis or replace the physician.

05After a tumor is found: what happens next

After Diagnosis

Staging may include additional imaging, such as MRI or endoscopic ultrasound. A multidisciplinary team uses the findings to discuss treatment options; recommendations depend on disease stage and individual factors.

06Follow-up and life after treatment

Follow-up

Regular follow-up, which may include imaging and laboratory tests, is an important part of post-treatment care. Lifestyle: balanced diet, moderate exercise, no smoking, limited alcohol, controlled blood sugar. Emotional support matters too — talk with family or a support group.

No. PANCREASaver® is software used by medical institutions to assist radiologists when you undergo an abdominal CT. You do not need to install anything.

Not necessarily. PANCREASaver® analyzes your existing abdominal CT scan and provides an AI-assisted review of the same images; whether the examination is appropriate should be evaluated with your physician.

The AI may flag a region for closer review. The physician makes the diagnosis using the complete imaging and clinical information.

Depends on the institution. AI reading takes 60–90 seconds; the radiologist's review and formal report typically take a few business days.

Discuss your risk with a gastroenterologist or family physician, who can recommend an appropriate evaluation and follow-up schedule.

Coverage varies by institution and regulations — please confirm costs with your provider.
